Berta Hummel designs are inspired by
the drawings of Berta Hummel which became later Maria Innocentia Hummel when she
joined the Franciscan Convent of Siessen, Germany. They are made by the W. Goebel
Porzellanfabrik of Rodenthal, Germany since 1997 and are marked BH followed by a
number. They are not to be confused with the original
M.I. Hummel figurines which
are also made by the same manufacturer since 1935.
Franz Detleff Goebel and
his son, William, founded the Goebel Porzellanfabrik in 1871.
In 1890, the first
Goebel Porcelain figurines were introduced.
By 1933 there was an extensive line
of figurines of which many are still made today.
