Goebel is the mark used by W. Goebel
Porzellanfabrik of Rodental, Germany.
Franz Detleff Goebel and his son, William,
founded the Goebel Porzellanfabrik in 1871 producing ceramic marbles and black boards.
In 1890, the first Goebel Porcelain figurines were introduced. By 1933 there was
an extensive line of figurines of which many are still made today.
Goebel
has produced over time 60 different figurine lines as well as a variety of dinner
ware patterns and is known as one of the most innovative and prestigious porcelain
manufacturers. The most famous lines produced by the company are M.I. Hummel figurines,
American birds by Gunther Granget, the African wildlife series Serengeti by Helmut
Fischer, gnoms called Co-Boys by Gerhard Skrobek, romantic children figurines by
Lore and a series of children figurines called Redheads & Blondes by Charlotte
Bye.
