Stories from the Inside Out: Exploring Personal Experience, March 17-19, 2006: Asheville, NC
This weekend workshop invites and challenges deep listening and telling on many levels. It offers unique opportunities to call up the stories that shape our world in an encouraging, compassionate and playful atmosphere. Our memories ? cultural and personal - often go unexplored and undeveloped. As we focus on them, these moments can be a wellspring of stories that enrich our lives - personally, professionally, artistically, and spiritually.

So join us in 2006 as we welcome the arrival of Spring by celebrating story, new growth and creativity. For teachers and librarians, storytellers, clerics, grandparents, poets and all those drawn to discovering their own stories.

2. Summer Storytelling Extravaganza, July 16-23, 2006: Asheville, NC

Eight days of study, coaching, telling, day-trips and discovery. This in-depth storytelling workshop is designed for all levels of expertise; from beginner to experienced storyteller. We will work on finding, developing, learning, and polishing stories. During the week we will make several day-trips including a journey to the Hicks home ? the birthplace of Ray Hicks who was the patriarch of Southern Traditional Storytelling. And in celebration, there will a performance opportunity at the end of our time together to tell for invited guests, family and friends.

Local tellers have been involved with storytelling at Sell's Christmas Tree and Reindeer Farm in Wakeman, Ohio. The second and third weekends in Oct. from 1-3pm stories of Halloween pumpkins and fall were told in a huge wigwam filled with school children sitting on bales of straw from the surrounding community. The 1st & 3rd weekends in Nov. stories were told in the same location about Thanksgiving. The 1st and 2nd weekends in Dec. tellers will tell Christmas stories in the same location. Each time there are two different tellers, so we use at least 8 different tellers giving opportunity to novice tellers. Donna Marie Kuczynski <dmkstory@erienet.net>
